Chapter 37
In this chapter Isabel goes back to the prison with some more food. Pretending that Curzon is her brother she negotiates with the prisoners that they give him blankets and food. In exchange though she must go to their leader, which she had not wanted to do.
Chapter 38
Madam Lockton has found out that Isabel has been going to the prisons and threatens her. That is why Isabel gets very scared and motivated to get away.
Chapter 39
Isabel meets Captain Morse at the market, who asks her to come to his tavern. Morse tells Isabel that Washington has won against the British. He also wants her to pass a note baked into bread to the prisoners.
Chapter 40
Sarah gives birth to a baby in the Lockton's cellar. Sarah came from Kent and named her baby George like the King. Also lady Seymor tells Isabel that she had wanted to buy her. But not set her free, which got Isabel a little mad.
Chapter 41
The Queens ball is going to be held soon and the soldier wives gossip. Lady Seymor gets bled by a doctor, who is asked by curious Madam Lockton about when lady Seymor is going to die. All the while Isabel tinks about Ruth
